This is a direct service position offered by Way Station, Inc., requiring general knowledge of serious mental illness and specific skill in rehabilitation with persons with disabilities.  The position requires knowledge of medication management. The Medication Coordinators are supervised by the Program Supervisors, with clinical supervision provided by a manager.

Position Requirements:  Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

  • Ability to establish a positive peer relationship and to coordinate effective rehabilitation services.

  • Ability to communicate WSI's mission when interacting with neighbors, families, and external agencies and providers.

  • Knowledge of medications (all medications but specifically psychotropic), side effects, and therapeutic effects, and the ability to effectively communicate this knowledge.

  • Ability to work as part of an integrated interdisciplinary team.

  • Knowledge of community resources and skill in linkage and advocacy.

  • Ability to learn psychiatric rehabilitation concepts.

  • Ability to establish and maintain empowering, trust relationships with WSI members and their families.

  • Ability to maintain appropriate relationship boundaries and to take corrective action when needed.

  • Willingness and ability to examine ones own behavior, feelings and attitudes to facilitate productive relationships with members, families, staff and providers.

  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

  • Ability to obtain assistance with decision making appropriately.

Position Requirements:  Education and Experience

  • Possession of a high school diploma or GED.

  • Possession of a medication certificate or experience in monitoring medication.

  • Applicant is required to have a valid full driver's license in the state in which he or she resides with very limited violations (license cannot be provisional).

  • Applicant must be able to clear a state and federal background check.

  • Possession or use of a four passenger car to be used to transport Way Station clients and a copy of a valid certificate of automobile insurance.

  • Positively referenced relevant work, volunteer or student experience.

  • Must be covered under an active auto insurance policy and a valid copy of auto insurance is required prior to hire.


  • Provide medication monitoring according to policy.  Assist in training of staff in medication monitoring process.  

  • Provide transportation for members.

  • Assess for potential crisis and implement crisis intervention actions as appropriate and according to proper policy and procedures.

  • Promote and ensure the health, safety, security, and organization of the work environment.

  • Provide information to the teams, problem solve and implement member plans as directed by the team.

  • Maintain current, accurate, and complete documentation related to all service functions.

  • Initiate communication with supervisor regarding concerns, ideas, input, suggestions or problems.

  • Manage and record changes to medication sheets and plans.

  • Provide communication, support and linkage needed to help members keep medical appointments, both psychiatric and somatic. 

  • Provide education and linkage to new and existing members regarding medication and health services.

  • Assist members in communicating with healthcare providers, both somatic and psychiatric. Develop medication plans on all members receiving WSI services.

  • Meeting with members in their homes and other facilities to work side by side with them in cleaning, completing chores, cooking...etc.  Note: Members homes vary in accessibility with many living on second and third floors and having no elevator access.  These activities may require lifting 10-15 pounds

  • Medication Monitor requires the Facilitator to carry 3-5 pound medication boxes upstairs to clients home.

  • Provide direct service to members needing assistance with medication monitoring, including assessment and education. 

  • Conduct audit reviews of lock-boxes and audits of the med monitoring process of staff in supported and/or residential houses, as scheduled.

  • Provide and/or assist with trainings (on policy, medication plans and specific medications or procedures) for peers as assigned.

  • Educate members regarding the effects of their medication.

  • Use computerized system to update and maintain medication monitoring plans.

  • Update computerized medication list under supervision of RN.

  • Manage pharmacy checking in meds.

  • Schedule members to fill pillboxes.

  • Assure accurate, timely, ongoing availability of medication for members from written prescription to member pill box.

  • Perform duties in Day Program Nursing Office such as filling weekly medication supplies, monitor daily medications.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ensure members have medical updates for all appointments.


M-F 9:30am-5:30pm

You will be eligible for a $750 bonus after successful completion of three months of work, then another $750 after successful completion of six months of work!
